STEP 1:Visit Income Tax portal/E-filing portal Income Tax Portal

STEP 2:Go to downloads and select the Assessment Year and then ITR utility.

STEP 3:Download the utility and unzip the utility

STEP 4: Then a pop-up will come and it will ask to download pre-fill data from your account in Income Tax portal and import here to continue via 2 ways:

1. IMPORT PREFILL
2. IMPORT JSON

You can import your data from ITR Portal by following these simple steps:

• Login your account on Income tax portal
• Go to e-file and then Income tax returns and then select download pre-filled data, it will automatically be downloaded in JSON format

STEP 5: Then go back to your downloaded utility and select Import pre-fill and then click ok on the alert pop-up.

Your whole data will be imported in a while in your utility and then you can make the necessary changes ONLY IN GREEN CELLS, and keep validating all the sheets or else you can validate the all sheets at the last.

STEP 6: After filling all the details, come to the 1st sheet and click on calculate tax and then pay your taxes if any tax liability is there and fill your payment details in the utility.

At last, generate JSON then download the XML /JSON file.

In case you are not able to download the XML/JSON and firstly save the utility on your computer and then try to download the XML/JSON file.

STEP 7: Login with your credentials on Income tax portal

STEP 8: Go to services tab, then select rectification and then select 'new request'

STEP 9: Choose Income tax and your assessment year, then press continue

STEP 10:: Then choose return data correction (offline) and give your reasons for rectification and attach your filled utility file and at last click on the Submit Button.

In case you are not able to submit due to error “Invalid Hash value identified, Modification to ITR details outside utility is not allowed”, then you have to download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 (Full Package) from Official Microsoft Download Center. And proceed with its installation.

Then restart your system and try again to create XML/JSON file of that utility and then try to upload your utility.

After successful submission, keep the rectification reference number for future references.
